Any two DFM Marine devices are configured on the PC for interfacing without the need to select and calibrate two compatible parts. The differential mode of fuel consumption measurement is used to measure the fuel consumption in the supply lines and return the fuel if necessary.

Differential fuel flow meter DFM D

DFM D differential fuel flow meter is designed for measurement of diesel fuel consumption in the fuel lines of vehicles and stationary engines and is used as part of the GPS vehicle tracking system. In addition, DFM D records the running time of the engine in various operating modes. DFM D is used to control consumption:
• diesel fuel;
• heating oil;
• other types of liquid fuels with kinematic viscosity from 1.5 to 6 mm2 / s.
DFM D fuel flow meters, are equipped with a display, are used as a standalone (autonomous) fuel metering solution that does not require a connection to a web server. DFM D is more suitable for:

FRESH WATER GENERATOR

The Wärtsilä Serck Como SSD is a state-of-the-art desalination unit that meets the need of long-voyage seagoing vessels where fresh water cannot be bunkered. It is also applicable in situations where clean water is required for processes. The system uses vacuum distillation to remove salt and other impurities from the seawater and convert it into high quality fresh water (features simple technology with automated operation for continuous and user-friendly operation. Waste heat from the diesel engine or other heat sources is used to evaporate the seawater and the system’s total electricity consumption is low.

WÄRTSILÄ SERCK COMO MULTI STAGE FLASH (MSF) EVAPORATOR FOR MARINE APPLICATIONS

Wärtsilä’s multi-stage flash principle is the most reliable thermal seawater desalination process in the world, and is the only evaporation principle where heat transfer and evaporation are strictly separated. This minimises the risk of scaling and reduces maintenance costs.
The Wärtsilä Serck Como multi-stage flash (MSF) evaporator is utilised for producing fresh water from seawater, well water or industrial water.
A special advantage of the multi-stage flash technology is that the specific heat consumption (or thermal efficiency) can be continuously adapted to the individual requirements of each application. The produced distillate has a very low salt content which makes it suitable as technical water (e.g. boiler feed water). The distillate quality and quantity are independent from the seawater temperature which makes the MSF technology a reliable source for freshwater.

MOSS MULT-INERT SYSTEM

Wärtsilä Moss Mult-Inert™ systems are vital systems ensuring a high level of safety for use onboard tankers intended to carry both crude oil and refined products, and combine into one compact unit where quality is the number one priority.
The Wärtsilä Moss Mult-Inert™ system can run as an inert gas generator or, when the boilers are in use, as a flue gas system. They are designed based on compact modules, offering important savings in space and installation cost for newbuild and retrofit vessels.
Our most recent developments include automatic regulation based on deck pressure setting. During offloading process, the inert gas production is optimized and only produces the necessary quantum of inert gas to maintain the tank pressure. This system gives cost efficiency by reducing oil consumption, as well as an environmental benefit.

During off-loading the system optimizes the inert gas production to only produce the necessary quantum of Inert Gas to maintain the tank pressure. This system reduces oil consumption providing cost efficiency, as well as an environmental benefit.

AVT 13D-VACUUM FLUSH TOILET

The Wärtsilä vacuum flush toilet has been designed to be mechanically simple, operationally reliable and stylish in appearance. It uses air to drive waste through the toilet and vacuum piping to the treatment tank or intermediate collection tank. By using only approximately 1 litre of water, a dramatic reduction in the amount of waste water is realised. This contemporarily styled toilet has a built-in vacuum breaker and flush memory. The control mechanism can beaccessed without removing the bowl.

VACUUM COLLECTION SYSTEM

The Wärtsilä vacuum collection system uses differential air pressure to transport sewage from the toilet bowls, and other sanitary fittings, to the Super Trident Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) or independent collection tank.

AVV 100 VACUUM INTERFACE VALVE

The Wärtsilä Hamworthy Vacuum Interface Valve (VIV) is the interface between a Wärtsilä Hamworthy sewage collection system and conventional greywater drains and urinals. The VIV makes it easy for showers, wash basins, laundry and galley drains to enjoy the cost savings and benefits of vacuum system piping.
Vacuum system piping is smaller and lighter than conventional gravity pipework, and can be run in any convenient orientation and around obstacles. This means lower material cost, installation labour savings, considerable design flexibility, and water savings of up to 85%. In addition, the performance of a vacuum system is unaffected by ship motions.

SUPER TRIDENT SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT RETROFIT RT SERIES

The Wärtsilä Hamworthy Super Trident sewage treatment plant is the cost-effective and safe answer to disposing of waste at sea, maintaining the quality of the world’s oceans.
The retrofit range has been specifically designed to reduce the cost of installing sewage treatment equipment into existing vessels. Each size in the retrofit range is built up from three separate water tight tanks connected by external piping, aiding installation. The dimensions of each component has been arranged to permit its transportation through standard vessel access ways.

The Wärtsilä oily water separator (OWS) combines decades of experience and innovative engineering to ensure the reliable and cost-effective treatment of oily water to the latest quality standards. Fully compliant with the latest legislation, this separator produces uninterrupted discharge below 5ppm. The small footprint makes the unit easy to install and the automatic operation ensures that man-hours are kept to a minimum.
The Wärtsilä OWS-15 series is an economical and easy to operate solution to treat ship’s bilge water in compliance to MEPC.107(49). The system comprises 3 stages - a hydrophobic high viscosity removal system, an oleophilic coalescing filter element and a high adsorption media which adsorbs more than 60% of its weight in oil contaminants. Fitted with a 15ppm oil content monitor, the OWS15 series guarantees that the treated water is safe to discharge overboard. The unit does not require backwashing or the use of chemicals, lowering the running costs and maximising efficiency.

WEKA has been manufacturing marine products since 1957. The core business is boxcoolers which are used for inland waterways and sea-going vessels. Weka offers a range of materials for different applications.

Boxcooler Advantages

Protection against biological marine growth is necessary. This image illustrates a comparison between traditional aluminum brass tubes with hard baked coating (left side) and uncoated 90/10 copper-nickel tubes (right side). The image shows the result of a six week test. The high copper content of the tubing provides natural anti-fouling capabilities, offering protection against marine growth. Copper alloys possess an inherent natural resistance to biofouling. Clearly, the 90/10 Cu-Ni alloy is resisting fouling from algae mussels and other marine growth. For clarification, the biofouling resistance of copper alloys is due to the copper in the protective oxide film; it is not from the leaching of copper ions.

Virtually maintenance free
The box cooler requires less maintenance since it has fewer components. Operational costs therefore are much lower than for any other cooling system. In harsh conditions when travelling in icy water the risk of clogging the system with ice is significantly reduced in a boxcooler, since it melts the ice and cool the system in that way.Elimination of an outboard circuitThe box cooler does not require a secondary raw water cooling circuit on board, which eliminates the need to bring raw water into the vessel.This reduces the chance of raw water leakages and cuts back the risks subjected to breakdown due to wear and tear.

Energy saving
Boxcoolers require no electrical energy for sea water pumps. Based on overall performance the box cooler design is the most favourable cooling system solution.

Cost efficient
The boxcooler system consists of less parts than a central sea water cooling system. The box cooler system requires less pumps & valves, the pipeline length is reduced and there is no need for a mud box or heat exchanger. The system requires less auxiliary power, which saves fuel and results in lower installation costs. The box cooler requires fewer parts which require nautical certification, resulting in a shortened certification process and a cost effective system.

Less susceptible to corrosion
The boxcooler is much less susceptible to corrosion and fouling than any other solutions. The corrosion resistance of the Copper-Nickel 90/10 alloy depends upon the formation of a protective oxide film. Alloying elements such as zinc, nickel, or tin affect the tenacity and adherence of the protective films that form, and thus the relative corrosion resistance of the individual alloys. The general corrosion rate of the Cuni 90/10 alloy in seawater is very low and decreases quickly over time as the protective oxide films form. For this reason, premature failure from general corrosion is rarely experienced. In this respect Copper-Nickel90/10 is clearly a superior alloy with regard to corrosion resistance.

Natural Anti-fouling
Copper-nickel alloys also have a high inherent resistance to macrofouling. This reduces the frequency of cleaning of piping systems and condensers, and decreases fouling removal costs for boxcoolers. Fouling that does form is poorly adherent and thus easily removed. The biofouling resistance of copper-nickel tubing allows shipboard condensers to maintain good heat transfer capability for several years.

An ICAF (Impressed Current Anti Fouling System) actively releases copper into the sea. One ship equipped with such a system may release 500 kg of copper ions per year. Because of the natural anti-fouling of the Weka box coolers, no extra coating and ICAF system are needed

Mariner Deck Machineries are designed in various types and drive systems. The commonly used winches are the electro hydraulic driven and direct marine electric motor driven types. For both drive systems automatic self tension types and remote controlled type winches are includd in Mariner’s scope of delivery.

Different Mariner deck machinery types include; anchor windlass/mooring winches, mooring winches, aft anchor winches, chain stoppers, SPM chain stoppers, vertical capstans, towing winches, tugger winches and positioning winches.

Mariner delivers compact design with sturdy, safe and user friendly ship service cranes.This includes service and provision cranes, free-fall lifeboat cranes and tanker hose cranes. Electro hydraulic drives are commonly used for all types. If required telescopic type cranes, explosion proof executions as well as remote controlled type cranes are also available.

 Mariner rudders are available in many different designs such as; high lift flap types, spade types or other special lines with bulbs and etc.

Mariner delivers well proven, robust, easily operable, easy servicing, 2 cylinder ram type steering gears. It is a compact design gear having 2 hydraulic tanks, 2 electric motors, 2 hydraulic pumps, 2 cylinders, all hydraulic fittings and piping as well as tiller and the carrier bearing all installed on the steering gear. There is no need of external hydraulic piping work on the ship structure, with this design the shipyard only needs to do the electrical cable connections to the mounted electric motors.
